Hey all,
I think it would be super neat to have the backup object run on a standby server. We have a number of customers that stagger their servers where the hot/standby have X weeks of history/events/etc online, then the PSB servers have more.
Say we have a customer who is overzealous and wants to back up data including history for x weeks that spans beyond primary/standby. There's no way to really do this. Currently we'd run some robocopy process on the PSB and raw copy the files. I'm not sure the backup would be much better, but having the option would be nice.
Archiving can already be selectively performed on server X. This would be something similar. The main benefit is that it would offload the "load" from primary to some other server when a backup is performed, but would also allow you to backup data that may extend beyond what's on the primary/standby.
