In order for the ClearSCADA server to download the ActiveX control for WebX you need to ensure that Internet Explorer will allow ActiveX controls to be downloaded. To enable this, from Internet Explorer click on Tools | Internet Options from the top menu, select the Security tab, click the Custom Level button and then set all of the ActiveX settings to either Enable or Prompt.
Some options to force the ActiveX to load/reload
To try to force IE to download the component again, you can look in C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files, and delete the ViewXCtrl Class. This file is what is downloaded when you connect to a ClearSCADA server via WebX. By deleting it, the file should be re-downloaded when you connect up to WebX again.
To reload the ActiveX control for WebX, follow this procedure:
Open a Command Prompt as Administrator (Start | Run -- type cmd and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER ) and browse to the directory where viewxctrl.dll resides (C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA)
Type regsvr32 /u viewxctrl.dll
Then browse again in IE and see if it loads
You can manually copy over the ActiveX control and register it on the remote PC. Follow these steps:
On the CS server PC, copy the following file: C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\WWW\ViewXCtrl-75.cab
Paste this .cab file onto the remote PC in a directory (i.e. c:\webx_temp)
Unzip this file in this folder
Open a DOS window, navigate to the c:\webx_temp directory and type: regsvr32 viewxctrl.dll
The Active X component should now be registered in the remote PC. You should be able to open Internet Explorer, navigate to the ClearSCADA server PC and establish a WebX connection.
