Other options may be added to the Geo SCADA Expert / ClearSCADA license, such as the number of Points or WebX clients, OPC and EFM flow runs. Options are added using one of the following methods.
USB hardware licenses can be changed remotely using the Dongle Field Exchange Utility. This removes the need for a new hardware dongle to be issued.
To change a license:
If you have difficulties with the process and your unlocking code is about 20 characters long, please see the section below about short locking codes.
To change the options of a client software license file:
To determine the version of your server software license:
ClearSCADA 2010 R3 brought about a change in the Field Exchange Utility which means that shorter locking codes are now obsolete. This does not happen often but when it does, customers will need to generate new locking codes for their keys from a newer version of the Field Exchange Utility tool.
How to identify old vs. new codes? - The new codes are significantly longer than the old ones.
Old locking code: CGDOCBABBQBZJOAAEBDH
New locking code: BAHFCOAPJMAIJMDPDIIYEBGGEKJBFQJDFCJEHJGRIFERKPMJAXAADXJNAAEBDL
Customers with legacy dongles are required to download the current version of the Field Exchange Utility tool available at the bottom of this page. Once installed, generate a new locking code with the dongle plugged into to the computer and send to the licensing team for programming update.
