Currently we have two Solaredge inverters with a total of 12kw. We don't have batteries because we're still on a grandfathered net metering plan.
We've been looking into how we could do a whole house back up that our panels would feed into. I've looked at Tesla and obviously those are expensive but do have the automatic transfer switch that makes this easier.
I've looked into solaredge and their backup interface but unfortunately our inverters are older than the new technology supports.
If we replace our inverters then we would lose our net metering grandfather plan.
My question here to the group is are there other ways to do this? We want something that has an automatic transfer component, that would allow us to have a generator that would charge batteries.
