PAS: RF-ID and Install Code pairing

Hi All,

I’ve been reviewing the latest PAS firmware update (version 002.002.000), and noticed that it introduces a new method for connecting wireless devices using RF-ID and Install Code. According to the manual, the RF-ID seems to be as just an identifier. However, when I looked up RF-ID online, I found references suggesting it might be a different communication technology altogether, distinct from Zigbee.

Therefore, few questions in my mind:

1. When PAS uses RF-ID and Install Code to pair with a device, is it still communicating over the Zigbee protocol?
2. What are the advantages of using this pairing method? The manual mentions enhanced security, but are there other benefits—such as improved connection stability?

hello @Stuart_Cheng,

Install code applies only to zigbee pro, this is a way to increase the security of the RF communication mainly during pairing, it is required to be compliant with RED directive. This remains Zigbee Pro.
