TEAM:
Broke down and purchased Hyper-Terminal.. Not so bad at $65. This allows me to break into EGX 100, 200, 300 and 400 with the correct serial cable arrangement.
The 100 / 300 line requires a special adapter and a cross over cable. I use a Schneider supplied kit for this. The 200 / 400 line have a DB9 so a standard null-modem cable works fine. Have also found that many third party devices we interface with also use Hyper-Terminal as an interface so it is handy to have loaded on my computer.
Have a couple of USB - DB9 converters that work fine. This may be old school stuff. Many customers still have these in service and sometime the IP gets lost or changed. At that time you will be glad to have this method for recovering the devices. This will get you home earlier and keep customers happy.

For EGX100 and EGX300 since Windows has discontinued HyperTerminal, I use PuTTY over Serial instead:

Many thanks, did try to use putty with a Linux computer but the port naming convention is different than Windows. Will try and see if putty works for me in the Windows world. Purchase Hyper-Terminal to get a project completed since I knew it would work. At $65 it saved me $Hundreds in time.
