Hi Sandra,
Question when will the gateway functionality of the PM8000 be supported in the COMX510?

Hi Jun,
Can you please be more specific here. There is no gateway feature/functionality identified on the backlog for Com'x today. I want to make sure I understand the request.

Hi Sandra,
Sure. Some of meters have a gateway functionality which means they can provide the data from serial connected devices. The ION7650 / ION7550 are supported by the COMX510 as a Modbus Gateway while i noticed the PM8000 is only supported as a direct connected (ethernet) meter. Unfortunately for one project we have this situation. (We probably need to add a Link150 to solve it).

Generally, ION devices implement the same feature the same way. In this case I would try picking the ION7xxx Modbus Gateway option (even though it is a PM8000) and see what happens. Odds are very good that it will work correctly. The Modbus gateway functionality on the PM8000 and 7650 are effectively the same.

Thanks Hal, agreed Ethergate is implemented virtually the same in all ION meters that support this feature. In theory, this approach should work.

Hi Hall,
I think you are right and it could be a temporary workaround. However in the end it should be displayed in the device settings correctly for the user with the exact type he/she is using. I will see if this is something which can be accepted
Second it seems to be the same implementation for the PM5560 gateway function. Do we then need to use a generic modbus tcp gateway? For small systems we promote comx510 and PM5560 in combination which its log and gateway function.
p.s all 'older' (ethernet) meters are implemented as gateways in the COMX510.

Hi Jun,
Under the hood of the ComX all of these Modbus Gateways are exactly the same, we've only added other entries like "ION7550 Modbus Gateway" to ease the integration process, and make things more explicit for anyone in the future who views the webpages. As Hal Etheridge said, you can select any Modbus Gateway (I would recommend using "Generic Modbus TCP Gateway" to avoid any confusion in the future) and the Com'X will treat the device as such.

This seems to be the most practical way to solve it. Thanks

Thanks for sharing Sandra.
Is there any expected start up / reboot time improvement ?
On our side, we have tried it and it seems to be still above 20min, which is still quite difficult to accept for customers and also our service
Any feedback from somewhere else?

Hi Jean-Marie,
This release does not include any improvement for the start up time. However, we know this is a customer pain-point and it is our focus in 2018 to drastically improve this.
Best,
Colton

Hi Sandra and Colton,
Kuan Khoon from Schneider Electric Singapore. I am facing some strange issues after upgrading to this latest firmware. The update seems to have knocked out the ability to configure the publication settings as shown in the screen capture below,
The above is the unit at my home for a long run testing (2.5 years and counting).
The above unit is at our customer / demo setup at Singapore Sustainability Academy (SEAS Office). Both units exhibit the same problem.
Can the development team quickly look into this problem as it is deal breaker should they need to change the IP address or any settings within the publication configuration page. I will be reverting the unit to 3.6.3 to see if I can recover the configuration capability.

Hi Tan,
Can you give us a backup of your configuration and some diagnostic logs from when you see the problem? It will help us investigate.
Best,
Colton

Hi Colton,
Beside troubleshooting the publication issue, I think you should perform some basic testing, like adding, modifying and deleting a custom type devices, as I can see some "zombie" items in the historical trending available devices list:

Hi Colton,
I have sent you an invite to the box folder that I have deposited the files you are interested in. Appreciate your assistance on the publication settings issues. Thanks.
The files are for the ComX 510 which is at the Singapore Sustainability Academy. The unit at my home has been reverted to 3.6.3 and the publication settings page is now working.

Hi Kuan,
Thank you for the additional information! I'm trying to reproduce the issue, but I'm able to save the settings here locally on my Com'X on v4.0.10. Would it be possible for me to access one of your Com'Xs which is experiencing this issue? (If so, please privately message the IP address).
Best Regards,
Colton
