Com'X200 erased all settings after one year

Hi to all, I have very strange situation with one of my sites.

I am using PME 8.1 which is installed on server computer and connected to local area network through ethernet switch.

On the other side I have 2x com'X200 devices which have connected 23 and 27 iEM3155 and iEM3255 devices in Modbus serial to them.

What is strange, after 1 year of normal functioning, BOTH GATEWAYS erased all settings except last upgraded firmware and password.

PME stoped communicating with com'X's so I went to the site to see where is the problem.

When I logged in directly to comX via my laptop throught eth2 port, all setting where "deleted",

there were not any of previously added modbus device so they did not even communicate with serial modbus devices.

It looks like we just bought com'X devices and need to set them from zero after one year.

How is that possible? Only I have password for login to com'X's so it is impossible that third person done that.

On the other side, now I have problem with establishing communication with PME when setting up again everything.

When adjusting network settings, I am not able to set default gateway, fields are grayed out.

When I select 2 separeted ports, then I can set default gateway but then I also need to set primary DNS server which no one gave me for the first time.

I only have IP address, subnet mask and default gateway to add to com'X network settings.

Hi Dario Andl and Brahm Lategan,

I met this problem several time in the Com'X200 that I have installed in several sites.

The problem is knowed to L4 and at the end fo this year should be issue a firmware that solve part of the problem.

With several Com'X200 I met two problem:

- block after a restart;

- reset to factory settings after a restart.

Both problems are related to loss of the power supply, also if temporally.

I escalated several cases and sent many Com'X200 to L4...It confirmed that is a problem of the product and not of the configuration (hardware and software, I think).

At moment, I suggest to power supply the product with UPS and save a backup after the configuration. In relation to my experience, power supply under UPS is enough to avoid the problem again.

Also, please, escalate a bFO case to L3 when you will find a product in this condition.

Regards

Salvo

Maybe someone else reset the Com'Xs back to factory settings manually? This is possible by holding down both buttons on the Com'X.

Did you make a backup of the original configuration? If not then I think the only way is to reconfigure the Com'X from scratch.

If configured as two seperate ports, with ETH1 as static, then the primary DNS server is the same as the IP address for ETH1. It's counterintuitive, I know!

Kind regards.

Hi Brahm,

I don't think that someone resets it, I can say that I am 100% sure that didn't happen.

Unfortunatelly I didn't backup configuration; it's not problem to reconfigure it again but I don't remember that I had to put primary DNS server anywhere for the first time so I stuck on that step.

Is it possible that settings erased due to longer power loss on the site?

Another interesting thing is that password remained user defined, it didn't get back to factory default password "admin" after reset.

Best regards.

Also I have met this problem with my gateway. It can be when power supply disappeared several times during starting of gateway.

Again no solution, because gateway tooks too much time for starting. And some simple maintainings on electrical network can harm the device.
