Acti9 SmartLink - Question relation to Pulse

Hi there,

Our customer gets a PR7 pulse water meter and we want to connect to Acti 9 SmartLink.  Based on the user manual, the Ideal wiring  :   pulse cable should be connected to I1 or I2 and supplied with 24V, GND cable should be connected to 0V. This means a pulse will be generated when the voltage level from I1 or I2 drops from 24 V to 0V. This is a kind of "negative pulse " waveform. 

Is there any expert who can shares their knowledge or experience if the SmartLink bar is accept this type of pulse?  Thanks in advance.

Hi @welly_xu_quasar , 

Smartlink only accept pulse meters compliant with IEC 62053-31 (generally called the "S0-Pulse").

• S0+ of the meter must be connected to 24DC of an IO Channel
• S0- connected to I1 or I2 of an IO Channel

Saia Burgess made a good summary of the definition of the S0-Output.

A pulse will be counted if:

• the current on I1/I2 is 10 / 20 mA (ON state).
• ON state pulse is at least 30 ms

According to the Honeywell documentation, it seems that the Yellow output is not compatible with Smartlink IO Channel. Can you check what is the difference with the Red output ?

It seems that the Smarlink IO Channel is counting during the up -> down edge of the pulse.
