I've defined a DCE external system in DCO and cannot collect any data. There is any special consideration to configure it?

Hi Enric,
If this is a fresh setup, then you might want to wait at least 8-10 hrs before seeing the measurements on DCO (reported by DCE). In general, for a fresh set up you might expect to see the power measurements at least after 8-10 hrs or so. This time period starts when a DCE configuration is generated on DCO, eg. 8-10 hrs, which is a gentle catch up in order to not stress the DCE.

Hi Jef,
Thanks for your answer but I configured yesterday the external system and today I'm still receiving the attached message every five minutes.

Hi Enric, Then I need to study the logs, Can you please collect the DCO server logs and share with me, thanks. I have send you an invite to my =S= box (please check your email). (in DCO, logs are available in Help > Download log files. Note, that the download may take 5-10 minutes to complete) Kind regards

Hi Enric,
Many thanks for providing the files, according to the logs it seems getting the temperature sensor data (at least for some devices) is generating the so-called 'Null Pointer Exception'.
If possible, please try to disable the "Retrieve sensors" (System Setup>External Systems Configuration, and then the DCE configuration) and see if that makes any difference - this is only a test and not a solution. I would be very interested about this test outcome.
You might also want to use the soapUI for getting the temperature sensor data from DCE, and if possible share the outcome with me (via my shared =S= box) - perhaps that might tell us what is causing the issue.
I have prepared the following instruction to guide you getting the temperature sensor data (from DCE):
By the way, do you know if there have been any changes concerning the temperature sensor devices and DCE (such as customized DDF's) or anything that might help us to understand and help you to resolve the issue, thanks.

Hi Jef,
I've disabled the "retrieve sensors" and now it works correctly and I can associate the devices.
What more to do?

Enric

Hi Enric, Thanks for running the test and sharing its outcome. This was a test to confirm, that basically the issue is related to some temperature sensors in your setup. Please notice, that "Retrieve sensors" must be enabled, otherwise DCO will not ask for the temperature sensor data (from DCE)! As mentioned, it seems getting the temperature sensor data (from DCE) is the main problem here. And as a next step, I've suggested the following: a) getting the temperature sensor data from your DCE (please read my step by step instructions, that will guide you what to do) b) plus some information/any changes or modifications (ex. applying customized ddf's, etc.) that concerns your DCE and "temperature sensors" in the setup. Please let me know if you have more questions, thanks.

Hi Jef,
Until next week I cannot do the test you are asking.
Thanks,

Jef, I also have this issue and uncheck the "Retrieve Sensors" and the alarm went away. I installed the SoapUI and followed your instructions. Since I can not send you the files, what are you looking for? For EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE i see sensors with "Error" or "Disconnected - OK" and "None" in the 'sensor state'. How do you pick the problem child or children?

Jef Faridi Recently upgraded to v8.0.2 and have seen this error occur. I tried the unticking of the Retrieve sensors box and the DCE information updated. Was there a fix to this?
