"Compressor State" vs. "Fixed Compressor State" sensors in Emerson PeX

This question was originally posted on DCIM Support by Javier Alejandro Pignata on 2019-06-28

Hi, I'm having some doubts about these sensors.
We have 3 ACs Emerson PeX 3100 (P3100DASMSHL12S10010CZ000) and 2 of them have the first sensor "Compressor State" which is a numeric sensor that shows up "1" or "0" if the compressor is on/off

The 3rd AA, curiously, have instead the "Fixed Compressor State" sensor.

But its graphic doesn't show anything up on web DCE interface

The interesting point is both sensors have the same node tree identification (1.2.1.5264.1/2) but one shows up information while the other not.
Both use the same DDfs and compressors configuration panel in both web interfaces are similar, except for the "Fixed Compressor State" sensor instead of "Compressor State" in AC3.

So, the questions are:

1) What's the difference between both sensors?
2) Why 2 exact AC models have different sensors (or at least differently labelled ones)?
3) Why isn't the "Fixed Compressor State" sensor not showing up information in DCE?
4) How do I must to proceed for this kind of issues. Is an Schneider's support team competence or do I have to contact Liebert support team?

Thanks for reading and kind regards.

Hi Javier,

Some Liebert devices use a system called Liebert Flexible Data, which returns all the data points the device supports in a single table. Each sensor gets a record in this table; the value in parentheses after the sensor label is the table record index. One of the fields in these table records holds the sensor label, and the DDF just returns this value unaltered for the sensor label. One of these devices is returning "Compressor State" for the label, and the other is returning "Fixed Compressor State", and in both cases the DDF just passes these strings along. (I'd need to see an SNMP walk of each of these devices to confirm this, but I'm reasonably certain this is what is happening.)

You'd have to ask Liebert why these two devices name these sensors differently.

Regards,

Glenn Martin
