I want to put a patch panel outside the rack, above it.
How can I do it?

Hi Enric,
Unfortunately that is currently not possible (not supported). Patch panels need to be placed inside a rack.
As a work around perhaps configuring an additional small rack (to place the patch panel) or resize the existing rack (so it could represent the rack itself + the "space above it").
Kind regards

Hi Jef,
Thanks for your quick response. As you said I've already considered the rack resizing option but these racks are in a cold aisle enclosure and I don't know how it will be affect. Anyway the small rack option is not possible due a licence limitation. What do you think?
Regards,
Enric

You are welcome Enric, I believe 'Cold Aisle Containment System' supports different sized objects, so there should be possible to model a resized/larger rack as well. That would most likely be the best choice! Kind regards

This is similar to the question posed earlier in the year regarding the placement of items below the floor. Our own need was to install patch panels below the floor.

Hi Enric, It is not possible/supported to put racks on top of each other. Going forward, please post "one" issue per each case, eg. start with a new Question - this is also to make sure that all cases have been answered properly :), thanks. Kind regards

You could also mount the equipment as "Not mounted". Then it will be located in/on the rack, but not in a specific position.
You wont be able to see it in the rack layout view, but it will be viewable in the navigation tree and on Inventory reports.

FYI, we have an existing feature request in the system for above rack patch frames (a few U positions) with patch panels
