I want to move some assets from a room to a new room and I want to keep all properties and connections.

What it's the right way to do it?

Regards,

Hello Enric,

Generally speaking I like to use the copy paste option.

  1. If the assets are all within the same row, click on the first rack, hold shift and click on the last one. Now right click and copy or press Ctrl + C to copy the assets to the clipboard
  2. If the assets are located all over the data center then click on the first rack, press and hold ctrl, click one rack at a time holding ctrl. Lastly, press Ctrl + C to copy the assets to the clipboard

Once done you will be able to use either Ctrl + V to paste from the clipboard or dragging the assets from the clipboard into the new location.

Thanks

Victor

Copy it's not the same that move assets; e.g. you miss "Serial Number", "Barcode", etc., but especially you probably miss whole history of maintenance.

Hi Enric,

By using drag-and-drop it is possible to move objects from one room to another (such as Store room or Data center). As illustrated I can easily move (drag and drop) a rack (including the content of the rack with kept properties) from one location (DC1) to another (Test-DC) in the Navigation pan.

After moving the object you might want to check/modify the cabling (such as power connections). and as always it is recommended to perform manual backup before doing any "major" changes.

Hope this helps

Kind regards
