dco network configuration

I'm installing DCO version 8 on a VM but after the installation completes, I am not sure how I am supposed to configure the network in order to get to the web admin to continue the configuration.

We do not use DHCP, so I need to assign a static IP to this server, how would this be done? When the server comes online I only see a Linux bash login screen.

there's a network connection subsection in one of the first few install splash screens at the very bottom, the same one where you specify date, time, hard disk settings, etc...

Hopefully you created both a root user and admin user during the install, there are options to create those users on the screen after the one I mentioned above.  If you didn't, I would delete and recreate the VM.

if you did create the users, you can login and manually specify an IP as follows using a text editor:

  • login using the admin user you created
  • switch to root user
    • su -
  • change directory to network config directory
    • cd  /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
  • use the "ls" command to list the contents of the directory
  • you should see a file called "ifcfg-en0XXXX", replacing the xxxs with the specific adapter name
  • you can edit that file to change the boot mode to static using a text editor
    • vi ifcfg-enoxxxx
  • then change/add the following
    • BOOTPROTO="static"
    • IPADDR=
    • NETMASK=
    • GATEWAY=
  • exit the text editor and save your config
    • :wq!
  • Then restart the network and operations services
    • service networking restart
    • service operations restart

if it worked, you should be able to use the ifconfig command to see the ip

if you're not familiar with VI, you might want to research some of the commands  http://www.cs.colostate.edu/helpdocs/vi.html
