Why does an APC Symmetra configured as an External System in DCO not import its serial number ?

I have an APC Symmetra 250 configured in DCE as a node and configured as an external system device in DCO. DCO is receiving Average power, Peak Power, Peak Amps, and various summary information related to the power. However, it isn't filling in obvious things like the SERIAL number. It also doesn't pull host name or any of the other configurable identification info, but that's of less interest to me.

In actual fact, I have 2 of the 250s  and 2 other Symmetra 80s with the same setup and same problem.

This is a mature APC product line in a mature APC software line, and it seems unable to obtain something rudimentary and critical to operation of something like DCO.

Is this some sort of malfunction with my configuration ?

Hi Eric,

It would be great to see what is being displayed in DCE and DCO.

Would you mind to share these screen captures:

in DCE: "Device View", showing the device(UPS) Type, Model, Hostname, Serial Number,

in DCO: right click on the associated device/UPS > Properties > External Systems

(recommended to mask sensitive data such as IP address), thanks.

Kind regards

Hi Eric,

I guess it wasn't possible to share images to illustrate what is being displayed on your screen, however I think if the device (such as UPS) could report its "Serial Number" to DCE, then that should be displayed for the associated device in DCO under device Properties > External Systems:

If device is not reporting its Serial Number to DCE, then that might most likely be DDF related. (new DDFs can be requested from DDF support site: https://ddf.ecostruxureit.com/).

Kind regards
