Hello. I'm trying to set up Active Directory authentication on my new DCE virtual appliance. I've added the authentication server correctly but when I try to log in using my AD username and password it doesn't let me. I wondered if there are any logs I can view to see what the problem is. I've grabbed a server log archive but I'm not sure where to look.
Thanks.

Hi Dominic,
After you connected DCE to your Active Directory server and then selected the Users that you would like to enable in DCE, did you go back into the "Users" section and either enabled yourself as a "StruxtureWare Data Center Expert Administrator" (which you can do by double clicking on the username) or configuring the specific Device Group Access?

We have to use all CAPS for our username to get it to work. I never did look into why it would be case sensitive. Not sure if this will help you.

Same issue here, when using AD authentication the user name is case sensitive. Some of our AD usernames are in both upper and others in lower case, so DCE users need to ensure that they use the correct case to match their AD entry.

Yes, I selected the service account that my AD admins created for us (I believe it's technically a group of users but it comes up in DCE as a single user) and made it a DCE Administrator.

If Sean's suggestion doesn't work out for you, the log file that might contain some useful information can be accessed from your DCE's web client. The file is nbc.xml from the "logs" menu option in the top right hand corner of the application. This log file is more structured for engineering/tech support purposes, so you may need to contact tech support in order to have the information processed for you.

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the log and it says that a server search for my username returned no results.

Why doesn't the nbc.xml get updated every time I fail to log into DCE?

My manager and I figured it out. I had added the service account but hadn't added our AD group as a user group in DCE. Once we did that everything worked. Thanks for the help.
