Hello Team,
I have a customer that is interested with the cron jobs output and notification setup within webmin. Here are the questions he is asking;
1) I have tried setting cron or other jobs to send email but the appliance does not include any MTA so even if I use the MAILTO variable in a cron job, it won't send any emails.
Are we allowed to install a MTA on the box?
2) What about cron jobs output? If the backup fails, is there an alert? If the cifs shares where we store the backup not accessible, is there an email being sent?

Hi Hakan,
As such there is no problem installing an MTA. The main thing is that the MTA is not occupying to many resources and the needed resources for DCO to run is available.
There is a SNMP notification in place on failing backups. Depending on how they want to monitor DCO that might be the solution to go with since that would allow for a central place to monitor their systems which might already be in place.
Please see this page for more information: DCO SNMP Status Codes
Besides that for CRON job creating new once should be possible with the same conditions as above that resources should be available for DCO and performance thereby not impacted. i would not expect the described scenario to have impact on DCO performance.
