Uniflair CRAC Modbus polling and lost communication

Hi Guys, 

We are polling data from Uniflair CRAC units (6units)  through TSXTGE100 Modbus gateway using the ddf given by multivendor. The problem is that, there are lots of communication lost for the units when: 

  1. There is changeover of the units due to schedule.
  2. Random comm lost and data was not able to poll all the time.

We have checked the cables are tight and correct, Modbus gateway was working correctly. The settings for scan time are:

5 minutes and 15 seconds timeout for all the units, no additional equipment are in the bus.

Please advise the below: 

  1. Is there any "retry" settings in the DCE for modbus?
  2. Is there any fine tune steps can be done?

Hello Law, I am not sure what version of Data Center Expert you are currently running or any serial configuration . But unfortunately the latest version of Data Center Expert does not support ModBus retries. Last word was that the next version should contain this feature which I have no eta for its due date. When comes to troubleshooting the issue at hand, You stated that the timeouts is set to 5+mins. How often is DCE polling those devices? How many registers is DCE polling for a single Crac unit? Have you check the diagnostic page of the ETG100 to verify no collisions or dropped packets Have you noticed that unit closer to the gateway are reporting less lost comms? Can you reduce the length of cabling between the gateway and a device? Can you reduce the amount of device connected to the gateway to see if communication improves? This is where I would start to troubleshoot this issues. Thanks Victor

Hi Victor, Thanks for the reply. We have tried Version 7.2.5 and 7.2.7, both version having the same issue. The polling time for DCE was set to every 5 minutes and timeout is 15 seconds. It is sad to hear that current version doesn't support the retry function, we are looking forward for the next version to include that function. We try to increase the polling time from every 5 minutes to 15 to investigate the improvement at the moment as the hardware installation can't be undone. Thanks for the advice. Regards, Law
