DCE Version is 7.2.1
We are unable to discover the SNMP devices in DCE. Bellow are the trouble shoots done.
1. The UPS SNMP page was not getting opened in any browser.
2. We have trouble shooted and found FW issue with the same, and upgraded the FW to latest version 3.7.2
3. Again we are not able to discover both UPS in the DCE. Bellow are the trouble shooting done.
1. UPS SNMP webpage is working well when connected directly to the SNMP card.
2. When the UPS SNMP is connected to their network, the webpage is not opening in any computers connected in the LAN
3. We have discussed with Network team and asked for any blocked ports for this devices. They said that in their LAN all the ports are open.
4. The ping utility in the DCE pings both UPS ip without any loss.
5. The ping is ok even on customer's computers which are connected in the network.
6. Even they have checked the port status of UPS SNMP devices in thier CORE SWITCH and found all the ports are in open condition.
Kindly suggest if you have any solution on this.

Hi Navaneethan,
You state that when the NMC is connected directly (using crossover) you can access the web page but can not on the network. If this is from the same computer, this aspect of the issue is definitely a network issue. There could be issues with the versions of firmware and their browsers so make sure this test is done with the same computer. Still, the web page of the NMC may or may not work but that does not necessarily mean that the SNMP aspect of the card does not work. These use different protocols as does ping.
I would suggest using an SNMP polling software and while on the network (preferably on the same segment as the DCE server), see if you can poll any information from the card. If you can not, it is a network issue and it is up to the customer's network people to determine. We can not troubleshoot their network.
You are also at an older version of DCE. 7.2.7 is the most recent and there could potentially be issues having to do with versions. You did not mention the UPS specifics though. Is this an APC UPS? Is it a 3rd party UPS?
Lastly, we have a knowledge base document that outlines a number of troubleshooting steps for SNMP communications issues. K-base can be found here:
www.apc.com/site/support/index.cfm/faq/
Please search for k-base FA226273 - How can I troubleshoot SNMP communications issues?

I know this is an old post however it might help someone in the future.
In the FA226273 I noted that it says 'you can only have on SNMP version enabled at a time'. Although I have found that not to be the case in most of my devices occasionally I find devices which see having both V1 and V3 enabled causes an issue.
Some older devices don't like having V3 enabled at all.
So try and disable V1 in the device and then run the scan.
I have two systems, one using V1 and one using V3 so this makes it difficult for me but at least a found a solution.

John,
Just an FYI, the k-base says "Only 1 version should be enabled on an APC device at a time." not "can only". We've also seen both enabled at the same time causing issues and that's why it was noted in the k-base since the app itself doesn't disallow it.
