StruxureWare DCO Physical Server

Hi Team,

I am just curious to ask what is your current Physical Server specification to run StruxureWare DCO.

Please advice the brand and model of the Physical Server.

Currently we are facing problem to install the DCO in cluster with the Server Spec below:-

HP Proliant DL380 Gen9

16G Ram,

Smart Array P440ar

As per our DCO User manual didn't mention that the Smart Array P Series from HP cannot be use and we only said the B series was not supported. Get confirmation from the HP Technical Support said that the Smart Array P440ar was not support Debian 6.

Could anyone please advice the Server physical spec that you are are using currently.

Thanks & regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

As you already encountered the Operating System of DCO 7.5 isn't able to be installed on e.g. the latest generation of HP servers. We are addressing this issue for DCO 8.0.

Until then we see options for you:

  1. Install the free VMware vSphere Hypervisor http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere-hypervisor on the server and then install the DCO iso. Remember to install vmware tools on the DCO server afterwards in order to optimize performance. Instructions are available here: Optimizing Performance of StruxureWare Data Center Operation Running on VMware
  2. Install Red Hat Enterprise linux on the server (At the cost of one Red Hat license) and then install DCO using the Redhat installer.

We recommend option 1 as this will allow you to get moving fast - and it is certainly better than us beginning to recommend older hardware generations.

Let us know if you need further help.

/Anders

Hi Anders, Thank you for your reply, Is it advisable to install the DCO Cluster under VM environment? We have a Cluster node license for this 2 HP Proliant DL380 Gen9 Server. Thanks & regards, Daniel

Hi Daniel Oh Way Kwang If you have one DCO server running on each server/hypervisor, then we see no issues with respect to running in a clustered setup. Just out of curiosity - how large a deployment are we talking about? E.g. how many racks/users.

Hi Anders Thorbjørn Jensen Thank you for your advice as the DCO cluster was running under VM environment perfectly. This setup is for colo provider. So the current setup was around 200-300+ rack and if all go smooth it will increase.
