Sort order of Sensors in a Gadget (dashboard in DCE 7.2.7)

Does anyone know what variables drive the sequence of Sensors depicted in a single Gadget.  For example, if I create a Gadget with three sensors (Battery Capacity Remaining, Main Input Voltage, Battery Time Remaining) the Gadget always depicts them in that order – regardless of which ones I add in whatever order.  I would like to have Main Input Voltage displayed first, followed by Battery Capacity Remaining, and then Battery Time remaining.  Note that if I use virtual sensors that I define, the sort/display order is even different.

I would have thought the sequencing would be alphabetic, or even by label/type (%, V, min, etc) but experimenting ruled those thoughts out.  Of course Sr Mgmt would like the output depicted in a certain order up on NOC-type monitors so I’m trying to make that happen – and without making it too busy by using individual Line Graphs for each of the desired Sensors just so I can display them in the right sequence.

Hi Ross,

The sensors in the gadget are ordered based on Data Center Experts internal ID of the Sensor, so unfortunately there is no way to re-order them based on your preference. We did not specifically choose the Sensor ID to be the sorting key (since that doesn't make much sense from the user's perspective), it is the default behavior for the gadget code.

Unfortunately there is no way around this default behavior right now. Your use case definitely makes sense, and I can log an enhancement request on your behalf to allow sorting based on visible properties (label, type, etc) as well as the ability to set a custom order.

Thanks Scott, this is a feature I would like also.  I use the web client to display an overall health of our data centers in the ops center.  When you have to look at 10+ air handlers and UPS's, you want them all displaying the same sensors in the same order to be able to look quickly.  In my experience, if its hard to find, it is not used.  Thanks again...
