Hi team, asking on behalf of Chuck:
I need to figure out how to alter the Alarm notification for the site wiring error exits in DCE. I am seeing dozens of little alarms from many different remote managed locations. The one that I see the most is site wiring errors followed by compensating for high input voltage. These types of errors are followed up within approximately 1 minute that the error no long exists. The APC UPS are different types of 1500 and 2200 from 1 to 8 years old.
I am sure there is no problems with the store’s wiring other than some of them are older buildings. I need to figure out how to configure DCE to wait 5 minutes and if there is still a fault then send an error or set the threshold to not be so sensitive. I know this should be easy but I am not able to find the right alarm configuration to change the policy. I also have other alarms that seem to be more sensitive than needed and only last for minutes before they are back to normal ( on battery power in response to input power problem). These types of alarms happen at most of my store over the course of a month. It seems to be short and not a real problem. I’ve looked at the alarm configuration function but I know I am missing a major step to configure it. I am sure I can fix all my little errors that fill my email box every day with just a few configuration changes and not compromise the real threshold errors that need to be attended too.

Hi Stine, Chuck,
In DCE, go to the alarm configuration perspective and click on the device alarm configurations tab:
Under navigation, select the UPS unit(s) who's alerts you're looking to reconfigure. Using shift or ctrl, you can choose multiple devices:
You can now select and configure the alarms themselves:
You can enable / disable them here or change their severity:
Disabling them for a period may not be what you want but perhaps changing the severity is. Potentially change this to informational. What you can do then is to look at the notification policy:
You can then add an alarm action that delays for 5 minutes:
Edit that action to only work for the severity you've changed in the device alarm configuration:
You would also want to edit any current policy to NOT send on that severity level.
Under many circumstances, another option would indeed be to disable the alarm configuration above and to create a new manual threshold. I have checked the different manual thresholds however and I do not find site wiring fault as a state that can be configured as a threshold.
