Hello All
Our Internal System Engineer showed me a Netbotz appliance with an attached GSM Modem. Where it is Possible to Send SMS.
Is there any possibility to create an interface to send alarms in SMS format from the Data Center Expert over the Netbotz over this modem?
Best Regards
Patrick

Hello Patrick,
Unfortunately, there is no add-on or native ways for Data Center Expert to send a message over a modem. The only option that we have would depend on the cellular phone carrier having the ability to transfer email to text. Most cellular phone carriers have the ability to email a cell directly I.E (cell_phone_number@vtext.com). If the customers carriers has this ability then we can configure short message email which uses macros that defines what information will be provided as an alert.
Thank You

Hi Patrick
We've also had success using an Email/SMS gateway e.g. sendquick. Depending on the number of devices and site config, having the raw alert stream sent to mobiles can result in dozens of unwanted / unnecessary alerts. This can be annoying for the recipients.
Cheers

Hello ED,
I have a question here.. Can i use it directly with the DCE server or i have to use and SMTP server as a connection between them?

A email to SMS gateway will appear to DCE as an SMTP server.

Try using a Talarix SMS Gateway, they will be able to route emails, and use the DCE alert ation via email to customize for a SMS carrier
