Hi Shoaib,

Your query:

If i change the SNMP Community String. Is it will Affect the Data center Expert server or its running devices .

No, changing the community string name of DCE server under Administration Settings-Server access will not affect the DCE server or its running devices. I hope it clarifies your query.

If you want to change the SNMP community string name of the devices which are getting monitored in DCE software, then it will affect the communication between the device and DCE. You will need to make the necessary changes at Device Scan Settings on DCE for the devices. Otherwise, DCE will result in loss of communication error if the SNMP community string name does not match with the device.

NMC SNMP community string name can be updated on device NMC web interface itself or through DCE by using APC SNMP Device Configuration.

NMC Access Control has an option to change the community string name.

NMC2 screen shot which has got 6XX firmware:

NMC1 which has 3XX firmware

There is no need to change the device NMC community string if you want to change only the DCE server Server Access-SNMP community string. So please decide on what exact you are trying to do as changing the community string for the devices which are already discovered on DCE software can cause loss of communication from the previous community string name setting which was used during discover.
