Hello,
We are trying to mock up an overhead cabling tray and/or mounting kit for a patch panel (attaching to a cable try). We specifically just want to show a vertical u position from the IBM DS8888 (5334-988) in physical properties so that we can make connections from the IBM DS8888 genome to the vertical u (which will have a patch panel inserted and will be mapped to a destination location).
Will DCO at some point include the ability for overhead cabling solutions? If not, can ALL genomes of the rack or floor equipment variety include the feature for vertical u-positions? Thank you.

Hi Nell,
Sorry to disappoint, to my knowledge there are no plans for developing overhead cable trays. Currently as part of near future plan is to add more functionality to the web-client.
From DCO 8.3 vertical extension panels should be possible to configure for racks.
However, I will share your feedback to our team, thanks.
Kind regards

Jef,
Thank you for the response, sir. I look forward to the upcoming enhancements in the web-client that possibly addresses this.
We have also been looking at vertical u-positions after our upgrade to 8.3 to at least provide a workaround to overhead cabling/patch panels. For floor equipment devices that are not consuming a rack license, the physical section under properties does NOT allow for a vertical u-position to be added. Can this be changed? Genome 040090000262 resembles the floor device for the IBM DS8000 that we are trying to model.
We can custom build a genome using a generic rack genome of the same dimensions, weight, etc and add a vertical u-position, but the problem is that you can't define power consumption/nameplate for a true rack.
What is seen for any rack genome:
Power section:
What is seen for general floor equipment (like the IBM DS8000):
Power section:
So, my request if overhead cabling is not a possibility at the moment would be to modify all general floor equipment genomes so that the physical section includes the ability to insert vertical u-positions (as you would see with any rack). Thanks again!
