Hi Team,
Has anybody tried sending an SMS alert with a ZTE MF100 modem ? Our customer wants to know If there is a limitation of character number when edit the Macros . I know in China the number of per SMS character is limited to 70,but I am not quite sure whether the SMS can be sent or divided into two separate message when its number exceeds 70 . Or I wonder If there is a SMS character limitation in other regions or countries and how do you solve such issues.
Thanks very much
Eric

Hi Eric!
SMS message is limited by 160 symbols if you use GSM Character Set (it's extended ASCII) or 70 symbols if you use Unicode.
It's defined by GSM standart.
So, you can try to use English locale for your SMS alert instead of Chineese and set proper character set and message limit under SMS icon in Advanced View (info)

Hi Eric,
Since the limit is on the receiving end, there is no way the appliance will know the limit is reached. What you can do is send multiple SMS messages per alert sequence and have different macros in each if you know you'll be reaching this limit.
Thanks,
Steve.
