Netbotz 750 - 4 port private switch

My question surrounds usage of the 4 port private LAN switch on the new Netbotz 570’s. We have a  number of hyper pods or HACS pods, each cabinet in the pod has 4 AP8853 PDUs. What I would like to achieve is a method of having the pdu’s connected to the Netbotz 750 so that when an alert is generated on one of the PDU’s that the Netbotz will detect this and make an alarm beacon flash. My initial idea was to connect the PDU’s together via A-Link and then connect the first PDU to the private switch on the 750, the 750 would then use snmp/whatever to monitor the PDU’s connected to it and then flash the beacon on alert, but I’m not sure what the capability of the 4 port switch is/what it is intended to be used for or if it can even be used in this way. If we are able to configure in this way then we could mount an Ipad/tablet to the doors and access the netbotz interface as the requirement is for any alerting/monitoring to stay completley within it's POD and not be accessible other than from it's own monitoring tablet. I’m basically trying to avoid having to have a DCE server for each pod/HACS and over complicating everything which would obviously greatly increase the deployment cost for each pod

Hi Alastair,

As of the current firmware release for the NetBotz 750, there is no option to monitor SNMP devices on that Private LAN  / 4 port switch. I don't have the exact timeline but it is planned for a future release (I believe 5.2). Preliminary estimates point to this summer. That Private LAN, similar to the DCE hardware offering, is meant to allow monitoring of the new NetBotz cameras and, going forward, SNMP devices.

I can't say if it will support daisy chained PDUs as since it is not available, I've not had a chance to test it. As for your iPad option, it seems like a good idea but you'd need to connect wireless access point. Again, not something that's been tested.

Thanks,

Steve
