Launching to Eaton powerware xpert gateway 1000 in DCE 7.4.3 fails

After discovering and seeing  the eaton xpert gateway 1000 rpp in DCE 7.4.3 online. When I try to launch to the web gui within DCE the page starts to load then fails at showing the whole interface. It just sits there and doesn't fully load the web gui. Any thoughts on why DCE doesn't fully load the web gui ? When I launch directly to the local IP of the rpp it comes up fine no issues.

Dear Ryan Reid,

Connection to the web-GUI of your device is done through the built-in DCE private proxy (i.e. your device is on a private network)?

With respect.

Yes it is on the private DCE network (picking up a DHCP IP from DCE).  If I plug my laptop into DCE private network and hit its IP it launching perfect no issues. I need DCE to launch to web gui.

Dear Ryan Reid,

I understand: you can, of course, try to upgrade to the latest version of DCE-7.5.0, but I must disappoint you ☹️. Very likely this also applies to the above Eaton device.

The fact is, if the web-GUI of device is based on the Java plug-in (for example, Cisco switches, NetBotz appliances , Emerson ATS, or Symmetra PX250/500 virtual display), then such an web-GUI will not be fully loaded through the DCE private proxy, which is a very old known Issues and is written in every release for DCE software:

  • NetBotz Web Client Does Not Load When Launched to a NetBotz Appliance on the Private LAN

The NetBotz Web Client does not load completely when it is launched from the Data Center Expert user interface to a NetBotz appliance on the private LAN. Users accessing Data Center Expert from the public LAN must use Advanced View to connect to a NetBotz appliance on the private LAN. Alternatively, to use the NetBotz Web Client, users can connect directly to a NetBotz appliance from a system on the private LAN.

I do not know for sure, but probably on this issue, customers have repeatedly created Feature requests. You can also do this and hope, that this will be implemented in future releases of DCE software.

With respect.

Is there a way to get the option to launch advanced view when trying to get to the web gui of eaton?

No, APC Advanced View is specialized software for use exclusively with NetBotz appliances.

With respect.

Ok so this have been a known issue with java based web gui's and APC has not addressed this yet after repeatedly being told that its private proxy fails at launching to the devices.  That's very disappointing as a customer. This is not a one off issue.

Hi guys,

What happens is the device tries to run a script or launch an active-x or other type of control. The proxy won’t allow this, not even for NetBotz appliances. Advanced View just uses HTTP or HTTPS so nothing is blocked there.

spezialist is correct that there are a number of people that have entered feature requests but I’m unsure anything will be recoded for this issue until DCE is totally rewritten. 7.x will likely always have this issue. The alternatives if you must see the device page are to put a laptop on the private LAN or put the device on the public LAN.

Steve.
