Is there any additional option to extend leak rope beyond 100 m?

According to installation sheet 990-3374 the Leak Sensor NBES0308 can be extended the total length up to 30.5 m (100 ft) using Leak Sensor extensions (NBES0309).

  1. ¿Is there any additional option to extend leak rope beyond 100 m as Emerson (Vertiv) does?
  2. ¿Is it possible to extend third party leak rope beyond 100 m using 4-20 mA Sensor Pods?
  3. Or maybe through Dry contact option?

Thank you in advance

Hi Victor,

Here's the link to the install guide:

http://www.apc.com/salestools/JSAI-7EVPBS/JSAI-7EVPBS_R0_EN.pdf

As it states clearly, the limit is 100 feet (not meters): You can not extend the leak rope farther than this.

Note: You can extend the total length of the Rope Leak Sensor up to 30.5 m (100 ft) using NetBotz 6.1-m (20-ft) Rope Leak Sensor Extensions (NBES0309).

If you need to go farther than this, you will either need another device or you can use spot leak sensors. A NetBotz appliance with sensor pods connected via A-link and cat-5 cables (with some pods powered) can extend up to 1000 meters as per k-base FA156085..

Thank you,

Steve

P.S.

You can use 4-20mA sensors and any distance limitation would be based on the connected device. I have no product suggestions to make.

Steven,

Can a second leak rope sensor be connected in one of the Sensor Ports, or is the Leak Rope sensor the only port where one can be installed?

Thank you,

Riley

Hi Riley,

there is only a single leak rope port in the current NetBotz offerings. You can add a spot leak but if you need more rope leak, you need a second unit. The “universal” sensor ports will not communicate with the leak rope.
