How we can manage Port shared Rack PDU through DCE

Hi Team,

The Network Port Sharing for the Rack PDU, Can we connect different type of PDU in one group ( Eg: Metered and switched) and can we monitor all the PDU's in the group through Data center expert by individually and managed separately.

Hi Manoop,

Network port sharing is not fully supported within StruxureWare DCE at this time. This is noted in k-base FA239801.  I believe they're still looking to support this going forward and I've seen no update on this yet.

As for actual PDU sharing, DCE will follow the rules of the PDU when it is actually supported. If you check k-base FA164436. They should work as long as they are using the same firmware. If you look at the images in that k-base, you'll see a switched rack PDU (AP8941) shared with a metered PDU (AP8887).

Quick update, I looked at a port shared PDU in DCE and I do see where it shows more support than it had in the past. As you can see here, I can see the outlets etc as defined by device number rather than when initially launched you could only see outlet numbers and Not their associated devices:

You also have the ability to turn off any outlets using outlet control. I'm not sure what else is needed for support for these so I'll speak to engineering to see what else if needed for support and potentially update k-base.

You're welcome. Please note that I am unsure how this relates to DCO and port shared PDUs.
