How can the device association on dco be restored, when dce was exchanged?

We had to exchange a dce at a customer site. Is there a way that we don't have to reconnect about 1000 devices in dco?

thanks for your help

Hi Ueli,

If I understand correctly, the DCE backup is restored on a new DCE/MAC-address. Then I have a solution (designed for DCO 7.5) that you might want to test. I will contact you by direct email shortly.

Kind regards

hi Jef,

I would like to ask theres a solution about this issue. As for my case, see details below.

  1. Deploy DCE .7.4.2 on a Virtual Machine.
  2. Restore DCE 7.4.2 on a Virrual Machine.
  3. Upgrade DCE 7.4.2 to DCE 7.4.3
  4. Build a new DCO 8.x on Virtual Machine
  5. Restore the DCO (from 7.4.0) to a newly DCO 8.x
  6. Change the target DCE External system connection IP address from old DCE to a new IP address DCE 7.4.3
    Device association lost Alarm listed

Please adivse.

Regards,

Randy Panaligan

Hi Randy,

In DCO, the integrated external system (DCE) is tied to the initial DCE server MAC address and IP.  I will send you instructions so you can test/try on a 'restored the DCO 7.4 backup on DCO 8.x' (eg. without your IP change step).

Kind regards

Hi, we upgraded DCE from version 7.4.2 to 7.4.3 several months ago, and we lost all PDU and IRC device associations, similar to what was described above. We have since re-associated all devices.

I'm not sure if I am following the answer above by Jef. If we had to change the server for DCE again, would we lose all device associations again, or is there a fix?

Hi Thomas,

If you are only upgrading DCE version without changing the host identity, then the issue discussed here may not be relevant in your case.
Basically the issue discussed here can happen if for some reason (such as hardware failure) you would need to setup/install a new DCE server (with new IP and MAC) and then restore your existing DCE backup file.

Kind regards

what if only the IP address was changed, but the server remained the same?

Hi Thomas,

Changing the DCE IP address will change the integrated DCE identity in DCO - in this case you would lose all device associations.

Kind regards
