Feature Request: NetBotz 755: PLEASE give us the ability to NOT send "return to normal" motion alerts like the old 455's

I'm drowning in "return to normal" emails.  I have to create an outlook rule just to delete them all.  We have spaces where there is normally no activity, so we have the NetBotz configured to send us alerts when there is motion.  Occasionally when we have a technician in the rooms, the NetBotz just goes wild, in addition to the motion alerts, it sends many more "return to normal" alerts.

  • The option to NOT send "return to normal" alerts for motion (or any other threshold.)
  • The ability to configure time between alerts.
  • The option to engage a "temporary maintenance window" or suppress alerts for X amount of time.

It's very unfortunate that the 755 Netbotz (using the 165 camera pods that have such a nice picture) are effectively crippled by very limited software.  I just don't understand why Schneider would remove all the good features found in the 455's just for the sake of a better camera (which the 455 desperately needed.)  Unless Schneider can add these features to the software, as soon as I can find a better enterprise replacement for environmental monitoring, I am going to recommend we replace our system.  Just too many good features have been removed.

Hello @YurtleTheTurtle,

Thank you for providing feedback on the NetBotz 750 series product.  I have passed your feedback long to the NetBotz product manager.

Kind Regards,

Cory

Hi, I am just another user, not SE support.  I don't use the Netbotz 755 but if you run these through DCE and that is producing the 'return to normal' alerts then there is an option to turn these off.  see attached

Thanks, but if you only use DCE, you cannot receive images from actual motion alerts.  DCE will tell you that there's motion but won't/can't include images.  Unless I'm mistaken, the only way to receive images in the email is having the 755 send the email and not DCE.

While I have DCE, theses messages are not coming from DCE, they come directly from the NetBotz.  Someone at APC decided to to integrate a lot of features for the NetBotz 755 series into DCE, especially with regards to motion.  Other sensors such as temperature, humidity, etc. can be managed through DCE if one wants, but NOT motion (if you want to have included stills in the alert messages).  The ONLY way to receive static images in motion alert emails (which is kind of the point, no?) is to configure the emails to come *directly* from NetBotz unit itself, which in turn will ALWAYS generate a return-to-normal message.  The old 455's were much more friendly and versatile in terms of configuration options, it's just the camera lenses were very potato quality and no IR.

Hi @YurtleTheTurtle ,

For the initial issue, there is already an enhancement request in the system to be able to allow for more configuration like that of the older NetBotz version 2&3 devices. @Cory_McDonald already mentioned that he added you to that request (or maybe even created a new one, not sure). When they re-did the NetBotz, they created a new operating system and sadly, many of the old features did not make it into the product.

As you mentioned, motion alerts with images can not be sent from DCE. This is mainly due to the fact that the images are sent to DCE using HTTP/HTTPS but alert is sent using SNMP.  In both cases, we've made engineering aware that some customers are not satisfied with the minimalized capabilities of the newer systems. They are working on expanding the capabilities however it will take time. I'll forward your concerns to product management.

Thanks,

Steve
