After upgrading to 8.0.2 my ETL export database is no longer functioning. I think it's a driver issue at this point, but I can't get the MS JDBC driver to upload via webmin. This was working without issue until the upgrade.
The instructions here: https://dcimsupport.apc.com/display/public/DCIMDEVELOPER/ETL+export+to+MS+SQL+Server aren't very helpful. The driver they point to hasn't been updated since 2013.
The MS SQL drivers can be found here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt484311(v=sql.110).aspx , but again, I can't get it uploaded.

Hi Sam
So the issue with uploading the driver is actually fixed in 8.0.3. However when we tested that driver it did not work as the driver does not support save points.
My recommendation is that you use the jtds driver pointed to in the link in your original post. Or is there a reason why you cannot use that?
Due to the upgrade issue you have encountered (did you upgrade from 7.5 or 8.0?), I recommend that you delete the current ETL export system and database and setup a new one.
Best,
Niels

Hi Sam
The ETL DBs are not to be considered permanent. In my experience, the DBs are often simply stopped after a DCO upgrade. I hit the start button for each DB in webmin and things are usually OK. Then I check via command line the DB is functioning and the data is present, then I check remote connections, usually first via a remote GUI access tool like pgadmin.
I would expect a driver or some other change affecting remote access to have been documented in the release notes.
Cheers
Ed

Hi Ed, thanks for your response.
I did the restart immediately after the upgrade and everything looked fine. It said it started, all showed green. (This is still the initial behavior when I try to start the DB)
It was only when I started making updates in the system that I noticed the external system wasn't staying in sync with DCO.
My primary reason for thinking it's a driver issue is that the JDBC driver doesn't show up as an option when I go to add a new external connection, only the native postgres driver is listed. Since 8.0.2 was a new OS install from 7.x it probably wouldn't carry over with a backup/restore.

Hmmmm, strange
Perhaps lets ascertain if it's a problem with DCO to Export DB or Export DB to remote client
Make and save a small change to DCO. Then perform a manual update of the ETL export DB. Then check if the data is present using command line. Let me know if you need help here

I'll need help getting to the data - I'm not very strong on Linux or postgres. I do think it's an issue with the DCO exporting. I can connect to the remote DB from another system and login with the configured user account and make updates.

Sam, the image shows the DB in "Error". This will need to be addressed before proceeding
Perhaps delete the DCO external system, destroy the DB then recreate the both and populate. You may need to re-establish remote comms
Else you may need to get factory support to diagnose the issue.

Hi Ed,
I called support and they asked me to post in the forums because the external DB isn't part of the standard config. Unfortunately I can't recreate the DB because it isn't letting me add the JDBC driver.
The DB doesn't error out immediately - it seems to work fine until the scheduled update (hourly).

Hi Sam
Can you say exactly which steps you have taken when trying to add the driver? For example there was one issue where the driver was not unpacked before being uploaded to the DCO server.
Best,
Niels

Hi Niels,
I downloaded the driver package from MS, unzipped it, found the right version, unzipped it again(they had run a tar through gz), and uploaded it through the webmin. The webmin never acknowledged the upload succeeded.

More details on the upload issues:
When I attempt to upload a .jar file the browser hangs (happens in chrome and ie)
I can upload a .tar file, but after rebooting the driver isn't listed as available and nothing shows up in the directory from the support page.
Is there a way to upload the .jar driver file using the normal webmin upload/download module instead of the ETL driver add page?

Hi Niels,
Thanks for your answer - that seems to have corrected the issue completely. Surprisingly I did not need to recreate the external db setup, it just started working once I got the driver uploaded.
