What I want is a detailed listing on when we started with ISX Central software , and where are we today?
Basically to answer a simple question "How old is STRUXUREWARE DCIM?"

Hello Vineet,
The product line can go as far back as of Netbotz Central version 1 which was released before 2005. The spec sheet below was release in 2005 for Netbotz version 2.5. The ISX Central name was released in 2007 with version 4.0. After multiple releases ISX Central has evolved to StruxureWare Data Center Expert. To date the latest build available is 7.2.2 which was released July 2013.

Seems good but this should be available in a proper format so that we can understand the legacy of the application and appreciate the maturity model of the software. So , If I go by the definition you have mentioned our Struxureware software is 7 years old right?

Hi Vineet,
I have been along for most of the ride - this would be my version:
Our DCIM offer grew out of combining technology and domain knowledge from two of our core software organizations:
1. The team responsible for our monitoring and management products (ISX Manager->ISX Central->StruxureWare Central-> Data Center Expert)
2. The team responsible for our Data Center modeling and design tools (Build Out Tool -> ISX Designer/Design Portal -> Capacity and Change Manager -> Data Center Operations).
While both the management and modeling organizations and products existed back before year 2000 Our DCIM story really did not start back then.
The first product we released that combined functionality from Modeling and Monitoring was ISX Manager 4.7. This release allowed users to import floor plans from our design tools and to add monitoring data to the racks and infrastructure equipment on the floor.
We started talking about the potential of combining the modeling and monitoring domains in 2004/2005 and an actual R&D program was staffed late 2006. The ISX Manager 4.7 product was released to the market in November 2007.
Starting from this release we established a vision for creating a new type of management system for data centers, one that would help Data Center operators increase efficiency, availability and visibility. A few years later the term DCIM would be coined...
