Data Center Expert 8.1.0 released

The Data Center Expert 8.1.0 release contains improvements including:

• Public REST API
  

  The public REST API is now available at https://<server_address>/isxg/rest

• Updated Data Center Expert Virtual Appliance OVA version
  

  The Data Center Expert Virtual Appliance OVA is now built on ESXi 6.7.

  Only E1000E and VMXNET3 network adapters are supported.

• Syslog forwarding
  

  Event log messages can now be forwarded to a Syslog server. Go to System > Server Administration Settings > Syslog Configuration to enable Syslog integration and configure settings.

• New event log messages
  

  The event log now includes:

  • Syslog configuration messages: Enable, Disable, and any changes that occur.
  • Threshold configuration messages when a user creates, deletes, or modifies a threshold.
  • Notification policy messages, including the policy name, when a user creates, deletes, or modifies a notification policy.
  • Device group messages when devices are moved from one group to another.
• AD/LDAP configurable timeout
  The timeout for AD/LDAP is now configurable up to 300 seconds; the default is 15 seconds.
  Go to System > Users and Device Group Access > Authentication Servers.
  Note: When you increase the authentication server timeout, also increase the timeout on the desktop client login screen.
• New alarm action macro
  

  There is a new $(SENSORVAL_NOLABEL) alarm action macro that does not include special characters.

  When you configure the Short Message Email alarm action, you can replace the default $(SENSORVAL) macro in the Subject and Message fields with $(SENSORVAL_NOLABEL) to display the sensor value without the label, for example, 81.2 rather than 81.2 ° F.

• New option to customize device labels      
  

  You can now customize device labels for SNMP and Modbus devices. Right click the device and select Device Label Settings.

• Available disk space check
  

  The Data Center Expert server now checks the available disk space before performing a software update and before restoring a backup.

• Backup list load time
  

  The loading time for the list of backups was optimized.

• Obsolete options removed
  

  Obsolete options were removed from the desktop client:

  • Customer Experience Program
  • ION Enterprise Settings
  • Remote Monitoring Service (RMS)
  • InfraStruxure Manager Migration Utility

Yes, the DCE VM trial software for DCE 8.1.0 is available. Here's a link to an updated article for that:

The product page on the web will be updated for version 8.1.0 soon. The link to the VM trial is not on the downloads page in the Entitlements portal. That's not a bad idea, though!

Hi @sesa272783 ,

There is no plan for soap to go anywhere. There are too many integrations that would break if it did. It's going to be around for the foreseeable future.

Hi!

We've faced with an issue with configuration backup: it doesn't work when storage usage is more than ~9.5GB. Full backup works. 

We use NFS for backups.  

Does anyone have the same issue?

Are you sure about SOAP?

DCE (8.0.0) and EBO 2022 (v4.0)

DCE serve information to ITA and EBO. There are no direct connection to device form EBO.

The system was working properly. After update to 8.1.1, EBO lost communication with DCE by EWS.

After create new VM v8.0.0 and restored from backup, communication with EBO via EWS back to normal.

How fix the issue in version 8.1.1?

There is an issue with the EBO integration after updating DCE 8.0 to 8.1 or 8.1.1. This will be addressed in DCE 8.2.
