Hello community
I have a problem trying to send e-mails with DCO, for the first time. In fact, when I'm doing a test on "e-mails settings", it fails displaying the following message:
"Test e-mail could not be sent. This could be caused by relay restrictions. See the server log for more information"
Also, when trying to send an e-mail by command:
root@host:~# mail -s "Hello world" e-mail (CTRL-D)
/usr/lib/sendmail: No such file or directory
root@host:~# "/root/dead.letter" 9/216
. . . message not sent.
My question is: do we need to setup sendmail/Postfix, in order to have DCO e-mail working?
What are we missing?
I do also did a test on Webmin using the "Send Mail" option and it indicates that there's no mail program installed on the system.
Can we install sendmail/postfix webmin module?
Thanks for your help and advise!

Hello all
I want to confirm that our problem was related to a firewall restriction and now it's working.
To summarize, as Greg pointed, the email client is configured using the DCO> e-mail settings, from the DCO GUI Client. And as Bala mentioned: "Information required is SMTP server IP address, port # and authentication(if applicable)."
In addition, I included a verification of the network connectivity from the DCO server to the smtp server (A PING, also a verification of the port, if it's reachable: usually a telnet smtp_server_ip smtp_server_port would work or any other tool to confirm connectivity, ex: openssl)
Additional step, if it continues failing, it's to " white list the DCO IP address or provide permission for DCO IP address to send an email" as Bala recommended.
Thanks everybody for your help!

Angelica.
Are you trying to configure emails from DCO? This is normally completed using the DCO client GUI. Under the system settings menu is the email settings option from which you can configure your SMTP settings for DCO emails.
Are you attempting to configure linux email from the DCO server for another reason?

Hi Greg, thanks for your answer. I've been trying to use the DCO client GUI and it doesn't work. For this reason I wanted to confirm with you and the community if my installation is uncompleted and needing additional setup as I didn't see any email client installed. But Now I'm clear that the only thing we need is the DCO client GUI. Thanks for the clarification. Now I'm trying to have the smtp test setup using the GUI but still no luck.

Dear Angelica,
I have faced this issue in one of the Customer DCO implementations recently. I have asked the Customer to whitelist the DCO IP address in their Mail Exchange server which resolved the issue.
As the error message points that "This could be caused by relay restrictions.", you will need to ask your Mail Exchange Server team to white list the DCO IP address or provide permission for DCO IP address to send an email.
Please make sure that SMTP server IP address, port # and authentication(if applicable) are entered correctly using the DCO client GUI.
It should resolve this issue.
Regards,
Bala

Hi Bala Thanks for your answer and it gave me a light. At this moment we're using a basic test with gmail/yahoo accounts. I've managed to verify if the server has connectivity to the smtp server, and it doesn't. So my guess is that the firewall is restricting this connection. I'll confirm if this is the solution or if the problem persists. Thanks!
