DCE to calculate power from current?

 Hi, All.

There is a Branch Circuit power meter with intermediate functionality (SE BCPM version B), which means the device monitors a lot of options (voltage, current, power etc) for its mains and only currents for the branch circuits, which are none other than server cabinets rack pdu.

So, it's nice to see currents for the rack PDUs, but to see power consumption would be even nicer 😀

Given that voltage could be get from mains at any given time, it's very simple to calculate an apparent power for branch circuits.

We're able to modify particular values using ddf file with such kind of DDF code:

0.001
register3903

The question is if it possible to use another register as an argument for the calculation instead of a number?

Something like that:

register3905
register3903

Thanks

Hi Nick,

For any DDF edits, I strongly recommend working with multivendorsupport@apc.com .  This does not seem terribly intrusive however I have seen incorrectly edited DDF files cause issues with the system up to and including failure of the system to fully boot. Additionally, if you edit a DDF and in the future that DDF is updated which does happen  from time to time (system upgrades, etc) that DDF may be overwritten and the sensor will no longer work.

Thanks for the heads up, Steve. I am aware about of all of it. I've been working with DDF for some years and succesfully created a number of it. But the quiestion was not about DDF structure but about is it possible in principle.

Hi Nick,

no I totally understood your question. Since multivendor does the DDF creation, they are also the best option for discussing what options are available for DDF creation and how that would best be achieved.
