DCE system upgrade
Hello Expert,
I am working on deal for DCE upgrade project, need your advise here.
Currently, Customer site use DCE version 7.4.1 to monitor 100 devices.
They wish to upgrade to latest DCE version to monitor:
Existing 100 device (they expect to migrate from old DCE 7.4.1 to new DCE version)
Additional 100 new device.
I need your help to check:
+ What is procedure to do this upgrade in order to minimize downtime of DCE operation.
+ For license, can we price for only 100 new device, and existing 100 device migration will not be counted for new license in order to save customer budget.
You're at a very old version and I can not recommend that you go through all the upgrades necessary to get to the current version of 8.3. You would need to upgrade incrementally all the way to 7.8.1 and we always recommend that you create backups along the way in cans there are any issues. Once you hit 7.8.1, you'll need to go through a process that's going to require that you deploy a new version for 7.9.0 (not a normal upgrade) and import the 7.8.1 backup.
In the end, I recommend going to 8.0 directly and recreating your system manually. With only 100 devices, it'll save a lot of time and effort.
Adding a new license is quite easy and I won't go through it here but I will say that if you need access o the portal mentioned in a previous link, you'll need to contact support directly anyway so they can assist with this too.
Thanks,
Steve
