What protocol is used for DCE backup? Is it FTP?
Any idea if backup works if DCE is behind firewall?

Hi Yang,
NFS/SMB and CIFS are their own protocols. In the same way you would connect to another computer over the network by typing //computer_name/share and drag files to the shared folder, DCE copies files to the backup location.

Hi, Just to ask on this area at one of client sites WINDOWS 10 is blocking the usual SMB port 139. Is it possible to change the SMB port configuration on site? If yes, what is the way to achieve the same?
Owing to security if this port is blocked then what is the way we can create a WINDOWS share drive dump for DCE data backup?

Dear Yang,
In addition to Steve's answer, DCE uses the following ports and protocols for communicating to a shared folder.
There is a video tutorial available on how to take the DCE backup which can be accessed here.
Configuring a Windows Share Backup of StruxureWare Data Center Expert
In case if you are not able to take the DCE backup due to some network restrictions, you can also use the GB2 port on DCE server to take the backup. You can connect your laptop directly to the DCE server-GB2 Switch so that your laptop will be assigned with DHCP IP address by DCE server through GB2 port, and you can configure and mount the windows share folder and take the DCE backup by following the procedure. I have come across that the anti virus programs may sometime block Windows share folder.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Bala
