Hello
Please advise me regarding all possible ways to integrate DCE (Data Center Expert 7.2.6) with external systems (Service Desk / Analytic Applications). I know about Modbus, Web service, SNMP, FTP export (reports). Any ref to documentation is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Andrey,
For direct communications, you've already noted modbus and the web API. For Modbus, app note 156 can be found here:
http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/JRUK-7R4L9N/JRUK-7R4L9N_R3_EN.pdf?sdirect=true
For the web API, you can go to www.apcc.com/tools/download. Filter by software / firmware and choose Software Upgrades - StruxureWare Data Center Expert and hit submit. There will be a line item for:
StruxureWare Data Center Expert Web Services API - SFWEBSVC
This download includes all the documentation.
You also noted the report option. You can use the FTP export as you noted as well as exporting to a shared drive and an HTTP post. If you're doing the HTTP post, you need to have a system specifically designed to listen for this data. It is not something we write for you, you must simply have a system ready to accept the XML code. The only documentation I am aware of for these reports is in the DCE help.
You can poll DCE for some basic SNMP information (Cent OS systinfo stuff etc) but you can not poll anything to do with the nodes themselves. There is no documentation I am aware of for this. Future versions of the software may have other options such as ETL however this is not yet available and since it is a future revision, not documented.

Data Center Expert can not read information from external systems or sources, it is purely a monitoring system for SNMP and Modbus. So there is no way to hook it up to read data from an eternal database or similar.
For providing the data from DCE to an external consumer, the methods you mention above covers it.

Christian

Hi Andrey,
you can find info about methods like Modbus, SNMP, Reports Exports, HTTP Post etc. in the manual of DCE:
http://dcimsupport.apc.com/download/attachments/92078504/pdf_en_help.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=...
and here is the link to documentation about Web-services of DCE:
http://www.apc.com/tools/download/software_comp.cfm?sw_sku=SFWEBSVC&id=350&swfam=350
hope this helps.
