I am getting a warning about purging data on my DCE VM server and I have a question about the "Total Repository Usage" section.
Currently I have 300GB of storage space and the "Total Repository Usage" section under "Purge Settings" has the following:
Logs: 62.98MB 0.02%
Database: 193.99MB 0.06%
Other: 247.3GB 81.34%
So my question is this, what is the "Other" section? Is that DCE itself? If so, when I get more disk space do I only have to get another 50GB or so since the database and logs are only taking 0.08% of the total disk space? I would assume that DCE itself isn't going to take up much more space unless I get an upgrade or something.
I want to be able to trend the data for at least a year. I currently have ~2000 devices.
Regards,
J

This is usually caused by too much data flooding in and the system is unable to properly categorize the information in a timely manner. As was mentioned above, this is often caused by camera images as they are the most resource intensive pieces of data and with large resolutions and fast frame rates, this is often the culprit. Slowing frame rate, limiting resolutions, and only using camera motion alerts and surveillance in areas that are not supposed to have motion will greatly reduce the stress on the system. I mention the last part as the system is designed more for monitoring a datacenter that is not supposed to have motion and alert when there is motion rather than monitoring a large call center during hours where everyone is moving around and constantly causing motion
You may also want to look at your VM's resources. More RAM and processors may also increase the system's ability to handle the larger amounts of data that are the usual cause of this type of issue. As mentioned above, speaking with tech support may help in figuring out more precisely where the issue lies.

Hi John,
There are a few different reasons why you have all that data in the "Other" folder, one common reason would be if you've had someone from support create a full server capture log file. In order to correctly diagnose it, someone from the Schneider Support team will have to get in to your system in order to take a look. The good news is that they'll most likely be able to clean up the data for you.

If you have Cameras that's largely where the video footage is stored.... At least that's what it was for us.

Thanks all for your answers. I do not have cameras so that is not the case. Tech support told my guys not to purge the data as it is due to what Steven Marchetti mentioned.
I will have to add more disk space.

If I increase the RAM so the VM can process the "Other" data, then will the "database" value go up proportional to the decrease in the "Other" data?
Meaning, is this really a RAM processing problem and not a disk storage problem? Both cost money to increase and I don't want to spend money needlessly.
