Hi,

I have a client who wants a Facility wide monitoring solution but is unconvinced on the Ethernet monitoring, and intends to have a Bulding Management System instead.

On my proposal I have stipulated that DCE has a private Ethernet LAN to connect all the devices that are not to be connected to the Bank's corporate network.

Kindly advise how well I can convince the client that the Ethernet cable connecting the UPS/Generator at the Basement is safe from any Hacker or if otherwise please avail the best approach for this scenario.

Please note that 90% of the client Facility Equipment are APC.

HI Felix, DCE provides 128 bit SSL encrypted communication between the client and the server, and encrypted user ids and passwords. The DCE secure isolated private LAN connects to the customer's private network. I have not yet found more in-depth documentation for you on the Sales Tools Portal, but will continue to search.

Hi Felix,

As Jackie and you self describe above the DCE has a separate secure private LAN that is normally used for connecting devices in the customers private network.

It is the recommend way to use this private LAN to connect devices to DCE. However making sure that this is absolutely secured from hackers is very hard. That depend son other devices, networks etc that might be connected to this private network and these connections are setup/controlled by the user.

I'm not an network security specialist however I would say: If the customer is very focussed on security/hacker attacks one way would be to keep the DCE totally unconnected from network(s) that has connection to the outside of the company and internally make sure to keep the devices connected only to the DCE private LAN.
