DCE SNMP AGENT OPTION IN SERVER ACCESS TAB

I want to integrate the DCE server as snmp agent  with my server to get alarm and status query. Is it possible with the option shown in DCE server administrator setting>server access>snmp server.

Hi Atul,

The SNMP option you're referencing simply enables the operating system's SNMP agent. You would be able to poll a few OIDs based on the CentOS operating system but you would get no data about the monitored nodes and you would get no alerts.

If you're looking to get alarms via SNMP or traps, you want to go to the Alarm Configuration menu, Network Management System Integration. You can set it up to send traps to any server you'd like.

There are 2 ways to poll DCE for information about the nodes it is monitoring. There is a modbus output option if you purchase the AP95MODBUS license key. You can also use the web-API. Details available on the software downloads page at:

www.apcc.com/tools/download.

Hi Atul, I'm not even sure why they have it based on different operating systems, I think it is a download page requirement. The API is not OS specific though, every download (for this anyway) is the same and contains info on how to write the code. Steve

Hi Gents - i am having the same issue and i hope you guys can assist me. To latch onto Atul's comment, so if i need to monitor a server, what do i need to do? My understanding from your comments is that i need to discover it with DCE and then configure the alarm notifications ? Is there any link that i can read to better understand? Thank you so much for your support - much appreciated.

Yusuf, This should probably have been a different thread as this thread is about monitoring DCE using SNMP and not about discovering another server using DCE. I can say however that DCE can monitor most anything using SNMP and assuming the server has SNMP enabled, you can simply discover it in DCE. This knowledge base document may halp if you need to know how to discover devices in DCE: http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/index?page=content&id=FA177081 Steve.
