Hello team,
we have a project with DCE 7.6 configured with two network interfaces. One public to connect with the enterprise network and a private lan to monitor devices.
In this private lan we have activated the DHCP server property in DCE. We have the doubt if the network interface of the devices is reseted DCE would assign a different IP address, or it keeps a list with the MACs of the devices to assign always the same IP. In case that the IP changes, will we lost all the historical data of this device?
Regards.

Hi Javier,
Your question mentioned resetting DCE. Resetting it in what way?If you're just rebooting it, the system should retain memory of the IPs based on mac address. If you do a restore of the system and manually reconfigure it, then no, DCE will not "remember" any private side IPs and they may end up with new IPS. If you restore and bring in a backup, the backup should retain the info from DHCP and should not re-IP the devices.
If there's something else you're looking for that I did not address, please specify.
Thanks,
Steve

HI Steve,
My questions is if I reset or disconnect the monitored devices, not DCE. I do not know if after reseting a device it would get the same IP address as before.

Hi Javier,
Yes, there is a DHCP lease where a device should get the same IP when removed and re-added to the private LAN...as long as it is the same card with the same mac address. I do not know how long the lease is so if you had it disconnected for weeks or months, I can't say it would still work.
