Hi All.
I have noticed that i am no longer receiving DCE Backup notifications when DCE Backup completes or fails.
DCE v7.4.
I have verified all thresholds and alarm configurations but i am not sure where this alert configs are stored.
Please assist.
Kind regards

Hi Juice,
There is no specific alarm configuration for these messages at this time. Any system administrator with an e-mail address associated with his account (local or LDAP) should receive these messages:
If you're not receiving them, perhaps your e-mail server is blocking them or they're going to spam. Running a packet capture during an intentionally failed backup should cause an e-mail that you could capture.
Thanks,
Steve.

W.O.W! thank you Steve for the swift response.
I was thinking along those lines - e-mail server is blocking the e-mail, however we are receiving all other errors, alerts and notifications from DCE.
how would i go about running a trace?

Hi Juice,
You'd need to put a system on the network sunning something like "wireshark" which is a free download. After that, you'd either need to put DCE and that computer on a network hub or connect that computer to a switch using port mirroring so you can see the traffic from that other switch port. Here's some documentation on that:

Hi Juice,
The only other things are verifying the configuration, checking your spam folder, checking with your email admin to see if they've got something blocked, etc. You can try looking at logs in DCE but I'm not sure you'll be able to easily pick that stuff out. They're not that easily read. Additionally, that won't tell you everything.

Will have a look and also chat to our exchange team. Although DCE event logs report the status of the backup, its just we not getting the e-mail.
i will check the spam folder and hopefully is stored there!
Thank you steve!
