Discovery fails for multiple APC Smart-UPS using DCE 7.6.0. even-though UPS's can be discovered using other monitoring applications. Have verified IP address, SNMP-v1 community string, FTP access and Admin access. Does the DCE Core DDF file need to be updated for APC Smart-UPS.

Hi Barry,
The Core.xml file that is in DCE 7.6 is up to date. Even if it were not, you might have some issues with values being wrong but it would not stop the device from being discovered.
If you go to DCE's web page and click on "Status" then under "Additional Information", click "SNMP device walk". Using the same parameters that you used for the discovery in DCE, try to walk the device. Assuming everything is the same, this should fail. If it does, then I suggest looking into things like firewalls or the options on the NMC under the SNMP section that specifies what IPs can monitor that device. If the SNMPwalk works, then I see no reason the DCE server can not discover the device and perhaps there is a discovery issue or the device was already discovered and is in a different folder.
I'd also suggest following k-base FA226273 to troubleshoot the issue.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve, thanks for the quick response. The SNMP walk did fail which was caused by Firewall. Once the Firewall rules were updated the discover worked.
Thanks again.
