DCE 7.3.1 discovers devices but stays initializing
Hi I have installed DCE 7.3.1 VM onto a campus network, I can trouble shoot the network and get a valid ping response however the device remains in initializing. this happening on all devices (cooling, ups, PDU, RPDU)
all are Schneider (APC) products and user names and PW all correct
TIA Mike

Dear Mike,
Struxureware Data Center Expert communicates to the devices via SNMP/Modbus over TCP protocols.
I would suggest to ensure that the following:
- Ensure SNMP Version 1 is enabled
- Ensure that the devices are running with the latest firmware
- You can do an SNMP walk by using SNMP Browser and see if you are able to poll the device via SNMP browser
- Make sure SNMP version 1 port 161 is not blocked on your network. SNMP version 1 uses the following port: Port 161(UDP), 162 (TCP/UDP)- SNMP Communication from SNMP Agent
Protocol |
Transfer Protocol |
Ports |
Network |
Comments |
HTTP |
TCP (SSL) |
80 (443) |
Network speed of minimum 100 Mbps is recommended. Bandwidth usage between client and server heavily depends on number of discovered devices, alarm configuration and operations carried out in the client e.g. report generation. |
Communication from NetBotz Appliances / DCE Console/Web API and 3rd party integrations. |
SNMP |
UDP |
161 |
The bandwidth needed heavily depends on number of discovered devices, polling interval configured and alarm activity in the system. |
SNMP Communication between discovered devices and DCE |
SNMP (Trap) |
TCP/UDP |

SNMP Communication between discovered devices and DCE |

Network requirements are low. Email traffic from the DCE is depended on alarm policy configuration and number of alarms occurring. |
Communication with e-mail server |
FTP |
TCP |
21 |
Used when device is discovered and DDF file transferred. The network requirements are low. |
Transfer DDF files between devices and DCE |

Very limited traffic and bandwidth requirement |

I also request you to check the following K-base document:

I hope this helps.
