Hi Minh,

There is a way of adding DCE to Schneider Electric SBO through EcoStruxure Web Services. The documentation can be found at:

https://buildingsdownloads.schneider-electric.com/search#documentDetails/1383377/IT%20Infrastructure...

Thanks Aniruddha, however I could not download the PDF file, I have sent email request to admin for permission. Will try again later.

However, on the APPLICATION NOTE #156, I did found a StruxureWare Data Center Expert v7.2.0 Building Management System Integration doc which said:"  StruxureWare Data Center Expert is connected to the BMS through a RJ-45 port (GB1) located on the server appliance... StruxureWare Data Center Expert then becomes the gateway for all information the BMS would request." That will created a big problem to us by changing the entire building sensors connecting to DCE first then BMS. Not looking to that solution.

I will discuss to our local APC/Schneider support

Thanks,

Minh

Hi Minh,

The idea behind this integration is to converge the White space infrastructure with Building Management. You won't need to necessarily switch your sensors from BMS(typically those related to the Building) to DCE, instead you will take additional inputs from DCE from it's sensors. Also, the procedure you mentioned above is different & requires StruxureWare Data Center Expert Modbu0s TCP Output Module to export device register map for the BMS system. Additional Information can be found: at: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP95MODBUS

Hi Aniruddha,

Thanks for quick respond. As under DCE there are module Building Management Setting which required a License key which is fine to me, however before purchasing a license I would like to know how DCE can talk or pull out data from BMS which is Johnson Metasys using N2 Johnsons comms protocol? Any specific hardware to convert N2 to Modbus TCP? any recommendation?

Thanks,

Minh

Hi Minh,

DCE does not pull any data from the BMS. It will act as a gateway to give away all the information about it's child devices to the BMS.  The StruxureWare Data Center Expert Modbus TCP Output Module integrates data and select events from devices managed by StruxureWare Data Center Expert into an existing Building Management Systems through ethernet transmission.

HI Aniruddha,

So this case is opposite what our requirement. As currently, we have a sharing generator connected to Property Facilities BMS, and want to pull data from their BMS to our DCE.

Thanks for your assistant.

You can ask a local Technical Support to try out a Multimaster Modbus TCP Gateway, such as EGX100 to achieve this connectivity. Here you can start monitoring the Generator directly on DCE without having to integrate the BMS.

Hi Aniriddha,

I dont have permissions to download this document. can you give another link to download this document. I need to share the values of my UPS and Inrow units from DCE to Struxureware Enterprise server.

Hi Shaf, quoting Aniruddha's comment, the best way to monitor DCE into SBO is using DCE Modbus TCP Output. Here's the link to DCIM support:

Building Management Settings (System menu)

The StruxureWare Data Center Expert Modbus TCP Output Module integrates data and select events from devices managed by StruxureWare Data Center Expert into an existing Building Management Systems through ethernet transmission.

Why wouldn't EcoStruxure Web Services (EWS) be a better way to integrate DCE into SBO? You shouldn't need an additional license to pull data from DCE into SBO. Can you please clarify why the Modbus TCP Output Module is better then EWS?

You are right, EWS is another option. Number of devices and data points, data transfer frequency, purpose of data (alarms? real time monitoring) etc are some factors to be considered when deciding on data interface method.
