Connect DCE

DCE are being implemented on two physical servers. The query is what the hardware and software requirements of these two servers are so that they can work in a fault tolerant topology and / or have high availability.

Hi Caroll,

There is no real fault tolerance option. The only real redundancy is to have both servers monitor the same devices. The database can not be shared between the 2 servers and any issues with communications between one server and it's device will have no effect on the other server.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steven for his prompt response,

I have some questions about it:

The same license can work for the two servers dce1 and dce 2?

If dce1 and dce2 are running at the same time, is there a conflict when capturing data from the same devices?

Within the policies implemented by our client, it is required that the servers work in high availability and that they are tolerant to failures, this option that is not mentioned in the dce.
is it planned to be implemented?

best regards.

Hi Caroll,

No, the same licenses do not work on both servers. If you contact tech support and show that both servers and all license keys have the proper support, they should be able to help with a second set of keys.

As for conflicts, there is not usually too much issue with 2 systems monitoring a single device using SNMP. Modbus can be a little more picky. NetBotz (non SNMP) don't normally have issues either unless you're doing a lot of surveillance or using a lot of camera captures and sending to multiple servers...2 is the max we recommend.

I know of no high availability option planned for the current offering. I know that EcoStruxure IT is planned to be the next option going forward and may have more of the availability options you're looking for. You can find documentation on it here:
