Configure device via SNMP in DCE hangs when applying changes to device

Hello.

I am trying to apply new configuration parameters to a rack PDU via DCE (model AP8681).

It retrieves the previous system configuration with no problems but when I send it back the changes to the device, the state hangs in the "retrieving configuration" phase.

The other two configurations that appear in the screenshot, applied only changes to the system location parameter of the PDU, while the problematic one tried to configure ssh access, ntp parameters, dns, date format, system location and syslog server. Perhaps is there a limitation on the size of the SNMP GETS and SETS per configuration request?

I have access to the rPDU management card and check that the original values had not been changed. I rebooted the management card but to no avail.

If I try to launch the configuration proccess again, the device doesn't appear when I click over "APC SNMP device configuration" option.

Is there any workaround for this?

Thanks.

Hi Manuel,

I'm guessing your rPDU's are currently running FW 6.x.x? There is KBase FA158443, that explains that some settings are not retrievable when using mass configuration on DCE when the NMC is on FW 6.x.x. There is a KBase FA156117, that will help you with mass configuring your rPDU's instead of using DCE. This is the workaround for now.

Sorry for the inconvenience of this.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Breda

Thanks Breda. Yes, our rPDUs are running with version 6.1.0. By the way, do you know a URL where I can check this KB's? Regards.

Hi again Breda. Thanks for the link, I have checked these KB and I am going to use the iniutil for mass configuration from now but, how can I return the rPDU I mentioned previously to a visible state in DCE? I'ts still trying to apply changes to the rPDU since two days. Is there a way to reboot DCE or the services in charge of that task? Regards.

Hi Manuel, You can reboot the DCE by logging into the DCE client and going to the tab File --> Reboot server. This should end the configuration process. Regards, Breda
